The southern part of Lesvos, where Plomari is located, features plenty of long or smaller beaches with transparent waters through all of its coastline. Other choices for swimming in Plomari are Tarsanas (or Esso Papas) which is also awarded with a blue flag, and Plakakia on the road to Ayios Isidoros. About 20 minutes from Plomari, following a narrow road to the east, one may reach the small beach of Ayia Varvara with a few tavernas and a lot of accommodation properties. There is also a small beach next to the port of Plomari, on its west.
In the west, about 6 kilometers from Plomari, Melinda is a beautiful pebble beach with a massive rock. Melinda features three tavernas and a few rooms to let, for a stay by the beach.
