Melinda: A Beautiful South-Coast Escape
Travel west from Plomari for a broad pebble beach, a striking rock and an open view across the Aegean.
Below Palaiochori, Melinda rewards the drive with a strong sense of arrival. The beach and its famous rock make it a natural half- or full-day outing, especially when paired with the village above.

The beach and the rock
Melinda’s broad pebble shore and clear, often deep water create a different setting from the town beaches. Check wind and sea conditions before swimming and supervise according to the depth you find.
Pair Melinda with Palaiochori
Walk the village first, then descend to the coast for a swim and meal. This keeps the route coherent and leaves time to enjoy both places.

Panagia Kryfti is a separate option
Do not treat the chapel as another beach on the same road. It requires a suitable boat arrangement and its own weather and access check.
What to check
- Current road conditions and return time.
- Wind, waves and swimming depth.
- Which tavernas or services are open on your date.
